Vaikom is set to become India’s first energy-neutral boat station, transitioning entirely to solar-powered boats and operations. Transport Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar will inaugurate three new 80 kWh battery-equipped solar vessels, replacing diesel boats and enabling services until 9 p.m. The initiative, supported by ANERT and SWTD, began with Kerala’s first solar boat in 2017.
