The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has closed a $489.4 million loan to Dawn Puerto Rico, a subsidiary of Pattern Energy, for developing 220 MW battery energy storage systems in Arecibo and Santa Isabel. The projects will use U.S.-made battery technology and provide backup power to over 100,000 customers during supply shortages.
