On April 8, 2025, the Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission (UERC) approved an additional surcharge of ₹1.14 per unit for Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) from April to September 2025. This surcharge aims to recover fixed costs due to stranded energy from open-access consumers.
