Torrent Power Defends 3,000 MW Karjat Project in Maharashtra

Torrent Power said its 3,000 MW Karjat pumped storage project in Maharashtra is 16 km from Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary, with all components outside the sanctuary and eco-sensitive zone and none near the Jyotirlinga temple, rejecting reports of tree felling inside sanctuary as incorrect. The project completed an 18-month process of studies, public hearing, EAC and FAC appraisals and site inspections before receiving environmental and forest clearances.
