The Spanish government selected 143 energy storage projects, totaling nearly 9GWh, to receive €840 million from the EU-backed ERDF scheme. Projects include 81 hybrid storage, 42 standalone BESS, 17 thermal storage, and three pumped hydro. Spain increased funding from €700 million due to 1,750 applications.
