Scientists Develop Underwater Solar Cells to Power Robots at 10 Metres Depth in South China Sea

Researchers developed wide-bandgap perovskite solar cells that generate electricity underwater, tested at 10 metres depth near Weizhou Islands in the South China Sea. Designed to absorb blue-to-orange wavelengths that penetrate water, the cells powered underwater robots during a two-hour field trial, generating 324 mWh from larger modules.
