Saudi Power Procurement Company has awarded four contracts for 2 GW/8 GWh of grid-scale battery energy storage systems, marking Saudi Arabia’s first government-tendered build-own-operate battery storage awards. Each project has 500 MW capacity with four-hour duration and comes under 15-year service agreements.
