Portugal's government has approved four areas in the Atlantic Ocean for offshore wind farms, advancing towards its first licensing auction this year. The selected areas are off the coast of Viana do Castelo, near the port of Leixões, and off Figueira da Foz. This initiative aims to achieve a 2 GW capacity by 2030, enhancing national energy independence and sustainability.
