NHPC Ltd plans to invest ₹84,000 crore to set up 20 GW of pumped storage capacity, with a total capex of ₹1.2 trillion through joint ventures. The company is also considering listing its renewable energy arm, NHPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NREL), within two years. NHPC aims to expand its hydropower capacity to 22 GW by FY2034 and also plans to produce and sell green hydrogen commercially, alongside solar, wind, and storage projects.
