The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) issued draft guidelines for series approval of lead-acid, lithium-ion, and nickel-based storage batteries. These guidelines support mandatory performance testing under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and follow national standard IS 16270:2023. They specify material, construction, sampling, and testing requirements, including safety protocols.
