Stricter localization rules under the Phased Manufacturing Programme (PMP) now require key EV components, including battery packs, BMS, VCUs, and chargers, to be produced in India. Import bans on battery modules and CKD kits aim to reduce dependence on imports, promoting self-reliance and sustainability in India’s EV ecosystem.
