Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) plans to invest ₹64,900 crore in thermal power, Renewable Energy, and coal-to-chemical projects as part of diversification. ₹40,000 crore will fund a 4,000 MW thermal power plant with Coal India and Odisha’s Energy Department. Renewable energy projects include 2,000 MW solar (₹12,000 crore), 500 MW pumped storage (₹5,000 crore), and 100 MW wind power (₹900 crore).
