Mauritania Signs $300M Deal for Hybrid Renewable Plant

Mauritania signed a $300 million deal with Ewa Green Energy to build a 220 MW hybrid power plant—160 MW solar, 60 MW wind—with a 370 MWh energy storage system. The plant will provide an average 60 MW daily, reducing dependence on imported electricity and strengthening the national grid. Scheduled for commissioning by September 2026, the 15-year agreement allows Ewa to build, operate, then transfer ownership to the government.
