Maruti Suzuki has begun production of its first electric vehicle, the eVitara, at its Hansalpur plant in Gujarat, flagged off by PM Modi. Targeting 67,000 EVs in FY26, most units will be exported. Despite being a late EV entrant, Maruti aims to lead India’s EV market using a multi-fuel strategy including electric, hybrid, CNG, and flex-fuel models.
