Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) reported a ₹500 crore annual burden due to the rapid growth in Solar Power, as per 2024–25 estimates. If recovered via surcharge, electricity tariffs may rise by 19 paise/unit, reaching 40 paise by 2034–35. KSEB supports new Renewable Energy regulations but urges additional restrictions.
