India has inaugurated the world’s first green hydrogen production facility using nuclear reactor heat instead of electricity at IGCAR, Kalpakkam. Jointly developed by BARC and IGCAR, the demonstration plant uses the indigenous Copper–Chlorine (Cu–Cl) thermochemical cycle powered by the Fast Breeder Test Reactor (FBTR).
