As of June 30, 2025, India has installed 3.46 crore smart electricity meters, with 2.27 crore under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). The RDSS targets 20.33 crore smart meters by March 2028 to enhance power distribution efficiency. With an outlay of ₹3.03 lakh crore, the scheme also funds infrastructure upgrades to reduce AT&C losses, which fell from 21.
