India now has 29,277 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations nationwide, with Karnataka leading at 6,097 stations, followed by Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. The government launched the PM E-DRIVE scheme in October 2024, allocating Rs 2,000 crore to develop public charging infrastructure and Rs 10,900 crore for EV subsidies.
