India has installed over 29,000 public electric vehicle (EV) charging stations nationwide, with 4,557 along highways, supported by Rs 2,000 crore under the PM E-DRIVE scheme. The Road Transport and Highways Ministry encourages private participation in expanding EV infrastructure while addressing uneven distribution.
