The Najafgarh drain canal-top solar power project, proposed in April 2023, is now moving forward, confirmed by Delhi power minister Ashish Sood. The initiative aims to install solar panels above the 51-km drain to generate 30 MW of power, beginning with a 5MW phase over a six-kilometre stretch. Besides power generation, the project will reduce water evaporation, aid Yamuna rejuvenation, and utilize canal infrastructure efficiently.
