Concord Control Systems has secured a Rs. 47 crore NTPC order to develop the world’s most powerful 3,100 HP hydrogen locomotive, converting a diesel engine into a hydrogen-powered propulsion system. This milestone positions India as a global leader in heavy-duty green rail innovation. The commercially deployable hydrogen locomotive will support large-scale freight operations, advance net-zero rail transport goals, and strengthen India’s hydrogen ecosystem, while opening opportunities for international deployment and reinforcing Make in India initiatives in sustainable rail technology.
