China has completed construction of the world’s largest vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) energy storage project in Xinjiang. Backed by China Huaneng Group, the 200 MW/1 GWh VRFB system pairs with a 1 GW Solar farm, costing $520 million. It will generate 1.72 TWh annually, reduce over 1.6 million tonnes of CO₂, and provide five hours of continuous discharge.
