Centre approves 4,874 EV charging stations under PM E-Drive scheme across 74 national highway corridors. In Tamil Nadu, 498 stations will be installed in the first phase along key routes including Chennai, Nagercoil, Thoothukudi, and Bengaluru. The ₹2,000 crore subsidy-backed initiative aims to strengthen highway charging infrastructure for electric cars, buses, and freight vehicles.
