Two Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) totaling up to 3,400 MWh have been submitted for approval under Australia’s EPBC Act. ACE Power’s Talbingo Battery in New South Wales will be a 450MW/1,800MWh grid-connected BESS near the Snowy Mountains, supporting the National Electricity Market. ZEN Energy’s Hookey Creek Hybrid Project in Queensland will feature a 200MW solar-plus-storage system with 4-8 hours duration (800-1,600 MWh), co-located with solar PV, enhancing renewable energy integration.
